From NGO Coordinator of Navarre, a network of 62 organizations working in the field of solidarity and cooperation with countries of the South, we consider unjust measures of social spending cuts recently announced by the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, including the reduction of Official Development Assistance.
We can not assume that the solution to control the deficit age is the cut in social spending, and endorse the most vulnerable people, here and in the South, continue to pay the consequences of a crisis that helped to generate. This news is, once again, the defeat of the people and their needs, compared to financial speculation and reaffirmed an economic model that each day is more unjust, unsustainable and exclusionary, as we have maintained social organizations in a while.
